My child just got diagnosed. Now what? 

Receiving a diagnosis can answer some questions, but it can create a whole lot more. A good place to start is finding a tutor with the skills to address your student's unique learning needs.  

 

What is the process of signing up for tutoring? 

When you contact me by phone or email, the first thing I do is make sure I have openings that will work for your schedule. I am fully booked most of the year and keep a waitlist during this time. The best time for openings is in the spring and summer. If the schedule works, we can schedule the free trial session. If, after the session, both parties wish to move forward with tutoring, we will start the process of signing you up. My tutoring sessions are month-to-month, so there is no long-term commitment or contract.

Do I need a diagnosis before I can sign up for tutoring? 

No. Whether it is reading or math skills that need work, we can start remediating your student without an official diagnosis.

How do you know where to start? 

I start with an assessment during the free trial session, and may ask you to fill out a questionnaire about your student. I gather enough information to begin tutoring, then reassess over time to identify new areas that need support.  

 

What is the free trial session like? 

At the free trial session, we all get the chance to meet in real time via Zoom. It allows us to accomplish many things at once. I can answer parent and student questions about tutoring, get to know your student, and perform an initial assessment that I can then share with you. We can also make sure that your student and I are a good match. 

 

How much do your sessions cost? 

25-minute sessions cost $65 each

50-minute sessions cost $130 each

What curriculum do you use? 

I do not use a curriculum. I use Structured Word Inquiry and multi-sensory concrete-to-abstract math techniques. I draw on my extensive training to tailor my lessons to address each student's weaknesses and build on their strengths.
